#2025 #award #benefit #changes #entitlements #humanresources #industrialrelations #minimumhourlyrate #minimumwage #payincrease #wa Jul 01, 2025

From July 1st 2025, the pay rates set by the WA IR system is set to increase. Here’s everything you need to know!

What has changed?

The Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission has set a 3.75% increase to both the State Minimum Wage and the Minimum Award Wages.

The Minimum Wage applies to employees 21 years and older who aren’t covered by an award or enterprise agreement and will rise to $953 per week.

The Award Wages are dependent on the specific award an employee is on, usually determined by the industry they work in.

Are you a worker under 21 years old, a trainee, or an apprentice? Your minimum rates will also be increasing! Find a summary for your specific circumstances here.

When will I see a difference in my pay check?

The changes will apply from the first full pay period on or after 01 July 2025, which means if your weekly pay period starts on Wednesday you'll receive the new rates from Wednesday 2 July 2025.

What are the next steps?

Employees

  • If you are covered by an Award, check the relevant Award Pay Scale to familiarise yourself with the changes to your rate. These should be updated soon! A list of the Awards can be found here.
  • If you are not covered by an Award, check your payslip from 01 July to ensure your rate is reflective of the changes. If not, touch base with your Employer or reach out to us to assist!
  • Please note, if you are on an agreement and paid more than the minimum rate you may not see the full effect of the 3.75% increase.

Employers

  • Make sure you're across which employees are paid an Award rate and who is paid a flat rate/ inclusive salary.
  • For employees paid an Award rate, ensure this is increased by 3.75% come 1 July.
  • For employees on a flat rate/ inclusive salary, consider whether a wage assessment needs to be conducted to ensure compliance with the changes.

Remember – not all workers in WA will be effected by this, and some just by the 3.5% National Wage increase set by Fair Work. Confusing, we know!

If you have any questions with the increases coming through please feel free to reach out to the team at Employii via [email protected]. We are more than happy to help answer any questions or assist in conducting a wage assessment!
